On behalf and in close cooperation with the NOS Digital Media team we built an award winning website that puts the user in control by providing them with multiple simultaneous livestreams, extensive news coverage and background information on all of the Olympic events. During the project I was responsible for online design and art direction.

Homepage
The website was viewed by 6.1 million unique visitors. This is a new record: never before has a dedicated Olympic event website of the NOS attracted this many visitors. In comparison, the site of the Summer Olympics in London attracted 5.1 million unique visitors.
Besides a lot of great feedback from the visitors, NOS was awarded a Silver SpinAward for the Sochi 2014 Olympics website.

Liveplayer & Schedules
During the Olympic Games there were too many simultaneous sport events for just one broadcast channel. To give the user control of their own Games, we offered all live streams online. The user was able to decide which sport they wanted to follow live.

Broadcast
Besides the livestreams of the sport events, there were 3 tv-shows throughout the day. All the editions of the shows were also available for online viewing.

Responsive
Our goal was to create an optimal viewing experience on all devices (desktop, tablet and mobile).

User feedback
As mentioned before, there have been 6.1 million unique (dutch) visitors on the NOS Sotsji 2014 website. Most of them had a great experience using the website during the event. Below you can find a small selection of the feedback we got on social media.
